My Last 30 Days Food Cravings - Banana Leaf Rice

There was an on-going "diet campaign" for me over the last 30 days. The most difficult challenge of all is not following the diet menu but the resistance to my favorite food cravings.

After that, I am having a little while of break and happily I am going to enjoy some of the food.

One of the food that I miss is no doubt the Indian banana leaf rice. I went with +petpetkia chen to "open feast":)

Restaurant: Sri Desa Curry House, Taman Desa
Food: 3.5 (Food is good, very presentable)
Ambiance: 4
Cleanliness: 4 (very clean, can be seen from entrance until the food counter)
Service: 4.5 (polite & attentive staff)
(The rating is based on full points of 5, only my personal rating)

I must say it was like a grand opening of my feast after days of diet, thank you petpetkia as my feast friend hehe. It cost us about RM16 each person for having a full set of banana leaf rice, meat and drinks. By the way, it is a very good time spending meal, enjoy so much to eat while chatting with friend.

Indian cuisine is really so much more to explore. Looking forward to the next......http://my.openrice.com/restaurant/article/detail.htm?articleid=410

Lemon Diet (Edited) - Day 7

Yesterday was the final day of my lemon diet. It's the rules breaking day as I went out for almost half day.

The only rule that I was doing was drinking glasses of lemon water.

Brunch - Ma Po Tofu rice + ginseng chrysanthemum tea

I thought I could finally eat something very satisfying.  The Ma Po tofu rice looked ok but it tasted mutton. Or should I say the gravy may contain mutton broth I guess. I was born a "non mutton eater", so it's not for me.

Totally spoilt my feasting mood! Only ate few bites if it.

Had a walk in the mall, came to a kopitiam. The food here is much nicer than the restaurant before.

Ate half bowl of the prawn mee hoon, 1pc of kueh talam ubi and a cup of cham O ice.

Prawn mee hoon was quite good, kueh was like "factory made".

Dinner - mixed vegetables soup with fishballs and chicken meats.

Added some flavors,  it tasted spicy,  like a clear tom yam soup. Yummy!

This is the end of my lemon diet.. Although I did not follow the menu exactly but it does bring good news!

Bye bye to 1 kg....I am going food rock N roll today!

Lemon Diet (Edited) - Day 6

This morning I had a simple breakfast, really simple as it can be prepared less than 5mins.

Soya milk + fruits salad.

But then throughout the noon, I had slight diarrhea. Maybe this is not good for me to have it in the morning.

However, dragon fruit is still my 5★ favorite healthy fruits with high fiber and helps in digestion, most importantly helps in weight loss. Body feel cleansed tho and I had some medicine.

I visited petpetkia today, so I had even simpler lunch there.

Some almond raisins, a cloud 9 & HL milk. This is probably like snack before lunch? In the original menu, I should have grill fish/ chicken.

+petpetkia chen thanks for the watermelon, the sweetness gave some energy. Also, the movies....to be continue watching again since I was rushing back.

During late noon, I thought I would want to eat some proper food like carbo but my appetite was so so. Then, I had something simple still...... (sharing basis)

Steam cake with gula Melaka, steam bread and black coffee.

Dinner - Mixed vegetables soup with chicken.

Tips:
- Read lots of benefits for broccoli but it is also one that will cause gas/ wind, so I added ginger into the soup. Ginger is always said by Chinese it can reduce gas/ wind.

- Besides pinch of salt and pepper, added few drops of soy sauce, it adds flavor to the soup.

I enjoyed the broccoli soup, think gonna cook it again. :)

Lemon Diet (Edited) - Day 5

This Sunday's principle is try my best not to let Sunday ruin the plan.

Breakfast - Cornflakes with raisin & almond nuts in soya milk. Warm lemon water.

Went out for movie (Transformers), movie is quite good 3.5★. It was a 3 hours movie, I drank a tin of wonda premium coffee latte. One comment about this movie is it doesn't really a theme song that interests me.

After movie, it was 2:30pm. Went Old Town for meal.

Lunch - 2 to 3 bites of Ipoh Hor Fun with some vegetables and a cup of iced lemon tea.

Went to mum's house today My tummy felt empty as I ate too
little just now. So, I just dig around and see what I've got, some pineapples with crackers. I also added apple vinegar and plum powder into it. O sourness......

Dinner was a big meal, steamed fish, roast duck, stir fried vegetables, claypot tofu and clam soup.

Venue: Yee Sang Fatt Restaurant, Air Panas Setapak.

As usual, I only ate a very small portion of each dish except a lot of vegetables, NO rice. Just giving it a snapshot as it's too painful! Fattening and regret... :P. Of course, it's too delicious to be forgotten.

I didn't really compare the meals against the original plan as it's out of the way.

At the end of today, the most important principle for me is food does not exceed 1200cal.

Fight again tomorrow!

Lemon Diet (Edited) - Day 4

A Saturday morning is the starting of  challenges of diet. How much we think about control, it will really go out of the track. Weekend outings are not avoidable. There are major editions in my lunch and dinner today.

Daily routine - 3 to 5 glasses of lemon water.

Jer was so noisy and requesting for a dim sum breakfast, that really raise my appetite, I hope it didn't spoil my Saturday meals plan.

Finally I brought him to pack some dim sum for his breakfast, while I am still having mine. The dim sum's "enchanted fragrance" made me felt a little dizzy at once. Haha!

Breakfast - Cornflakes with some almonds in soya milk.

Back to the reality, I gotta follow my menu as much as possible and unexpectedly, the cornflakes combination  with soya was really delicious!

On another version, I may burst my calories if I am having Jer's version of breakfast- chu cheong fun with prawn, steamed pork rib and fish balls. Phew......

Lunch - Eat out at Fish valley, Semenyih. Had bites of steamed fish, spinach soup, omelette with mushroom and few squid rings.

Tips: Squid ring
Good - Low in saturated fat and sodium, good source of zinc, vitamin B12 etc.
Bad - High in cholesterol.

I love to eat squid all the time, hence I always have cholesterol issue last time. However, since diet, this is the first time I am having it.

As per original plan, lunch should be omelette with grated cheese, banana and strawberries.

Snack - Frozen dragon fruits and green apple with lemon juice.

Dinner - Went out for dinner with family, browsed around the hawkers stalls and finally found the best choices of food.

White chicken breast, tauge and teh kosong ice.

Ordered teh kosong ice, simply because I was missing the teh's texture hehe, it's tasteless anyway, not as good as it looks.

The original dinner should be prawn in salsa, salad and apple.

Tips:
- Chicken breast is the best part of the chicken with lowest calorie and fat, highest in protein, see link: http://www.nationalchickencouncil.org/chicken-the-preferred-protein-for-your-health-and-budget/the-nutritional-value-of-chicken/
- You will be able to check out the nutrients comparison for the chicken parts.

- Always remember not to eat the chicken skin as it's fattening, I am already have this habit of not eating chicken skin in recent years except sometimes for fried chicken which it's crunchiness is irresistible.

As I was monitoring my diet with My FitnessPal, I've got an idea on sharing the teh's calories info, which you may be interested:

teh tarik - 140cal
teh tarik kurang manis - 83cal
teh ice - 130cal
teh O - 83cal
teh O ice - 130cal
teh O ice limau - 140cal
teh O kosong - 0cal
*teh kosong limau (no milk & sugar) - 0cal
(*could not find this in FitnessPal, hence I checked and created it)
teh C - 175cal
tec C kosong - 80cal
teh halia - 74cal
teh halia with milk - 120cal

Now, I am enjoying my Saturday night again......listening to my new favorite song from IU (My old story).

Good night!

Lemon Diet (Edited) - Day 3

I worked out a little yesterday, too tired and fell asleep......

Yesterday was day 3, I did major change on breakfast as I felt to have asian breakfast, postponed the original breakfast menu to lunch.

4 cups of lemon water in a day.

Breakfast - Chee cheong fun with some fish cakes, tofu and fish balls + coffee

Lunch - 1 slice wholemeal bread, scrambled egg whites with tomato.Yummy!♥

Tips: I choose egg white as it's healthier, less cholesterol and less calories.

I didn't have snack yesterday, made buttered corns with Jer. He loved it!

We enjoyed the mixing and shaking of corns with butter and salt.

Dinner - A bowl of dumplings soup and broccoli corn with lemon juice.

It should be broccoli corn pasta. I didn't put pasta, replaced it with the dumplings soup. For my family members, they enjoyed the dumplings mee.

I had a good sleep. Fortunately I am still in good mind condition, not starving until dream of food. haha :)

Lemon Diet (Edited) - Day 2

Today is day 2 of my lemon diet.  I feel myself almost like a herbivore, never ending munching greens. meh~~ meh~~~:¤

Breakfast - a cup of warm lemon water, buttered wholemeal bread, some dried cranberries and mango soya smoothies.

I changed banana to mango; raisins to cranberries.

Tips: cranberries are very good for health with vitamins and fiber, see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dried_cranberry

Lunch - Red cabbage salad with lettuce, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and some pasta (with lemon squeezes).

There's jacket potato in the menu but I don't feel like eating potato today. So I added some pasta in the salad. Ratio is 9:1. 90% vege, 10% pasta.

It's quite a big bowl of salad, which I can keep on munching and munching while watching drama. Very good facial exercise.

Tea - coffee and some biscuits.

Dinner - 4 spoonfuls of rice, stir fried vegetables with little fish cakes +prawns (added lemon juice), baked beans.

p/s: original menu should be no meat tho, but I calculated the calories, luckily it's still ok.

This is the best meal of the day! Feel so lucky to have it! Haha, feel touched when I am eating......not dramatic, but emotional. After the emotions spread, still munching and munching exercise throughout the meal.

I can see the menu of the next few days have more choices of food.

Looking forward......
